Hemodialysis - Carlo Fidani Peel Regional Cancer Centre and Ambulatory Care

Hemodialysis is used to treat chronic kidney disease when kidneys no longer work well enough to remove waste and fluids from the body to keep it healthy * the site is a combined inpatient and outpatient dialysis centre offering 56 chronic treatment stations and the capacity to provide hemodialysis for 336 patients * the unit is divided into three care centres, each with a central nursing station for the patients to be within sight of a nurse while having dialysis treatment

A separate room is available to provide privacy for special medical procedures * isolation rooms are also available when indicated to help control the risk of infections

This unit also provides hemodialysis for acutely ill in-patients in other areas of the hospital, such as Critical Care and Emergency
